Itinerary Overview

This 8-day Central Vietnam itinerary begins in Da Nang with a city tour including Marble Mountains and Han Market. Continue to Ba Na Hills to visit the famous Golden Bridge before traveling to Hoi An to explore its historic streets and nearby My Son Sanctuary. The journey then continues to Hue, where travelers experience imperial landmarks, royal tombs, and a dragon boat trip along the Perfume River. The final part of the tour explores Quang Tri and Quang Binh, including Vinh Moc tunnels and the spectacular caves of Paradise Cave and Phong Nha Cave before departure from Dong Hoi.

Detailed Itinerary

DAY 1: Arrival in Da Nang & City Highlights

Upon arrival at Da Nang International Airport, you will be met by your guide and driver and transferred to your hotel in the city center.

After check-in and a short rest, the tour begins with a visit to Ngu Hanh Son (Marble Mountains) — a group of limestone hills famous for natural caves, Buddhist pagodas, and panoramic views from the mountain top.

You will then continue to Han Market, one of the city’s most well-known traditional markets, where locals shop for fresh seafood, vegetables, and regional specialties.

After the visit, you return to the hotel and enjoy the evening at leisure.

Overnight in Da Nang.

DAY 2: Ba Na Hills & Golden Bridge – Transfer to Hoi An

After breakfast, your guide and driver will pick you up at the hotel for a full-day excursion to Ba Na Hills, one of the most famous mountain resorts near Da Nang.

You will take a scenic cable car ride up the mountains, offering impressive views of forests, valleys, and clouds surrounding the area. At the top, visit the beautifully designed Le Jardin Flower Garden, the Linh Ung Pagoda, and the famous Golden Bridge, an architectural landmark held by two giant stone hands overlooking the mountains.

A buffet lunch will be served at a local restaurant with a variety of Vietnamese and international dishes.

In the afternoon, continue exploring Fantasy Park, one of Vietnam’s largest indoor entertainment parks, and visit the charming French Village with its European-style architecture and lively atmosphere.

Later in the afternoon, descend by cable car and transfer to Hoi An.

DAY 3: Hoi An Ancient Town & My Son Sanctuary

After breakfast, your guide and driver will pick you up for a day exploring the historic town of Hoi An, one of Vietnam’s most charming cultural destinations.

The walking tour includes visits to traditional merchant houses, the famous Japanese Covered Bridge dating back over 400 years, Phuc Kien Pagoda, and the lively riverside market, where local vendors sell fresh produce and regional specialties.

Lunch will be served at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, travel to My Son Sanctuary, once the spiritual and cultural center of the ancient Champa Kingdom. This UNESCO-listed archaeological site features remarkable red-brick temples and towers built between the 7th and 13th centuries.

After the visit, return to Hoi An.

Overnight in Hoi An.

DAY 4: Scenic Drive to Hue via Hai Van Pass

After breakfast, your guide and driver will pick you up for the scenic journey from Hoi An to Hue.

Along the way, you will enjoy views of the coastline and pass by Da Nang Beach before heading toward the Son Tra Peninsula, where you will visit Linh Ung Pagoda, home to the tallest Lady Buddha statue in Vietnam.

The journey continues along the famous Hai Van Pass, one of the most beautiful mountain roads in Vietnam, offering breathtaking views of the sea and surrounding mountains.

You will also stop at Lang Co Beach, known for its long stretch of white sand and peaceful coastal scenery.

After the scenic drive, arrival in Hue, check-in at the hotel and overnight stay.

DAY 5: Hue Imperial City Tour & Perfume River

After breakfast, begin the day with a traditional cyclo ride through Hue, offering a relaxed way to experience the historic atmosphere of the former imperial capital.

The ride passes Trang Tien Bridge across the Perfume River and continues to Dong Ba Market, one of the busiest and most colorful markets in the city. You will then visit the Imperial Citadel, the historic complex that served as the political and cultural center of the Nguyen Dynasty from 1802 to 1945.

In the afternoon, continue by car to visit two of the most remarkable royal tombs of the Nguyen Dynasty — Minh Mang Tomb, known for its harmonious design within the natural landscape, and Khai Dinh Tomb, famous for its unique mix of Vietnamese and European architectural styles.

The day continues with a visit to Thien Mu Pagoda, one of the most iconic landmarks of Hue located along the Perfume River.

Finally, enjoy a scenic dragon boat cruise along the Perfume River returning to the city center.

Overnight in Hue.

DAY 6: Hue – Vinh Moc Tunnels – Dong Hoi

After breakfast, depart from Hue and travel toward Quang Tri Province, an area that once formed part of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) during the Vietnam War.

Along the way, visit several historical sites connected to the war, including stops at local relics and coastal areas near Cua Tung Beach.

The highlight of the day is a visit to the Vinh Moc Tunnels, an underground tunnel system where local residents lived during the war to protect themselves from bombing. You will have the opportunity to explore sections of the tunnels and learn about the history of the region.

The journey continues with a stop at Hien Luong Bridge and the Ben Hai River, which once marked the division between North and South Vietnam.

After lunch, continue driving along parts of the historic Ho Chi Minh Trail before arriving in Dong Hoi for the evening.

Overnight in Dong Hoi.

DAY 7: Paradise Cave & Phong Nha Cave

After breakfast, your guide and driver will pick you up for a day exploring the spectacular caves of Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its impressive limestone landscapes and underground river systems.

The first stop is Paradise Cave, one of the longest dry caves in Asia. Discovered in 2005, the cave stretches for more than 30 kilometers and features remarkable stalactites and stalagmites that create dramatic natural formations resembling crystal pillars.

After exploring the cave, return to Phong Nha village for lunch at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, take a boat trip along the river to Phong Nha Cave, famous for its underground waterways and spectacular rock formations. The cave is also historically connected to the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail, which played an important role during the Vietnam War.

After the excursion, return to Dong Hoi.

DAY 8: Quang Binh – Departure from Dong Hoi

After breakfast at the hotel, begin the day with a visit to the Quang Phu Sand Dunes, where you can enjoy the sunrise views and take photos of the impressive coastal landscape. Visitors also have the option to try sand sliding activities (at their own expense).

Afterwards, stop briefly at Nhat Le Beach to enjoy the fresh sea air and relax before departure.

Following the visit, your driver and guide will transfer you to Dong Hoi Airport for your onward flight.
