Day 2: Iceland Golden Circle: Geysers, Waterfalls & Geothermal Wonders
Today you will explore Iceland’s famous Golden Circle route.
Start with a visit to Thingvellir (Þingvellir) National Park, where you will walk through the Almannagjá gorge. This is the place where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates meet and where Alþingi, the world’s oldest parliament, was founded in 930.
Continue to the geothermal area of Geysir and Strokkur, where Strokkur erupts every 5–10 minutes. Learn how locals once believed geysers were “portals to the underworld” and made offerings to the spirits of the earth.
Next, admire Gullfoss Waterfall, one of Iceland’s most powerful falls, surrounded by the legend of Sigríður, the woman who saved it from destruction by threatening to throw herself into the water if construction began.
Make a short stop at Kerið Crater, a volcanic crater lake with striking colors. Then enjoy a unique tasting of hverabrauð – Icelandic hot spring bread baked in geothermal soil for 24 hours – and discover how locals have used the earth’s natural heat in cooking and daily life.
Finish the day with a relaxing soak in the Secret Lagoon, Iceland’s oldest natural hot spring, a year-round tradition for Icelanders. In the evening over dinner (not included), listen to stories about the 13 Yule Lads (Jólasveinar) – mischievous Christmas trolls with different personalities, who visit children from December 12 to 24, leaving gifts or potatoes in their shoes.

Day 3: Iceland South Coast: Seljalandsfoss & Skógafoss Waterfalls
Begin the day with a visit to Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, one of Iceland’s most iconic falls, where you can walk behind the curtain of water. According to legend, elves once lived behind this waterfall, and stories of the huldufólk (hidden people) are still respected in Icelandic folklore.
Continue to Skógafoss Waterfall, where myth tells of a chest of gold hidden at its base by a Viking named Þrasi. Locals tried to retrieve it, but only managed to break off the ring, which is now displayed in the nearby museum.
In the afternoon, enjoy a 3-hour glacier hike, walking on the ice while learning about the volcanoes that lie dormant beneath the glacier. Here, fire and ice coexist as part of Iceland’s dramatic natural system.
In the evening, attend the spectacular Icelandic Lava Show in Vík, where you will witness real molten lava in a safe setting. The day concludes with stories of Þorláksmessa, an Icelandic tradition on December 23rd when locals prepare fermented skate and gather at festive street markets.

Continue to Dyrhólaey Arch, a rocky promontory with sweeping ocean views and a massive natural arch that has become one of the South Coast’s most iconic landmarks.
In the evening, gather for the storytelling of Icelandic sagas – ancient tales of Vikings, battles, and migrations that were passed down orally for generations, bringing Iceland’s history and folklore to life.
